LET’S CELEBRATE THE OPENING OF THE NEW PARKROSE PLAZA!

Join us on Saturday, July 11, from 4:00–8:00 PM at NE 106th Ave & NE Sandy Blvd for an evening of free BBQ, games, music, and community fun as we officially welcome Parkrose Plaza.

The Parkrose Plaza is part of the Portland Bureau of Transportation's (PBOT) Public Street Plaza Program, a citywide initiative that transforms portions of streets into vibrant public gathering spaces. These plazas are designed to create safer, people-focused places where neighbors can connect, local businesses can benefit from increased foot traffic, and communities can host events, art, markets, and celebrations.

Historic Parkrose is partnering with PBOT, local organizations, and community members to help activate the plaza with programming and events that make this space a welcoming destination for everyone. While PBOT created the plaza through its pilot program, Historic Parkrose is excited to help bring it to life through community gatherings like this one.

Admission is free! Free BBQ from It’s a Vibe Catering, while supplies last. Everyone is welcome.

The Parkrose Plaza is your neighborhood's outdoor gathering space and we'd love to see it full of life! Whether you're a local business, artist, musician, community group, or just someone with a fun idea, the plaza is available for free public events that bring people together. PBOT encourages everything from game nights and fitness classes to live music, pop-up markets, art activities, cultural celebrations, and more.

The Parkrose Plaza:
A Community Gathering Place at the Heart of Parkrose

Historic Parkrose is supporting The Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT), neighbors, community organizations, and the City of Portland to transform the intersection of NE 106th Avenue and NE Sandy Boulevard into a welcoming public space for gathering, creativity, and connection.

The Parkrose Plaza Project is part of Portland's Public Street Plaza Program, an initiative that reimagines portions of streets as community spaces where people can gather, celebrate, and build neighborhood connections. Public plazas create opportunities for outdoor events, art, performances, markets, and everyday interactions that strengthen the social fabric of a neighborhood.

For generations, Parkrose has been a crossroads for people, cultures, and businesses. While Sandy Boulevard serves as a major transportation corridor, it is also the heart of our neighborhood.

The Parkrose Plaza Project creates a safer, more welcoming place for people—not just cars. By incorporating public art, community programming, and pedestrian-focused design, the plaza will become a destination where neighbors can gather, local businesses can thrive, and community pride can grow.
