Bottom Line Up Front (BLUF): Think about this…Let’s estimate your monthly rent is $1,780; you're paying approximately $21,360 each year for rental housing.
Now imagine that over five years of paying rent: $21,360 × 5 years = $106,800
Over ten years of paying rent: $21,360 × 10 years = $213,600
We all need a place to call home, and renting is the right choice for many people at different stages of life. But if your goal is to become a homeowner, ask yourself: What if I started preparing today so that one day my monthly housing payment could help build my own future instead of someone else's?

Parkrose Plaza Launch Party
LET’S CELEBRATE THE OPENING OF THE NEW PARKROSE PLAZA!
Join us on Saturday, July 11, from 4:00–8:00 PM at NE 106th Ave & NE Sandy Blvd for an evening of free BBQ, games, music, and community fun as we officially welcome Parkrose Plaza.
The Parkrose Plaza is part of the Portland Bureau of Transportation's (PBOT) Public Street Plaza Program, a citywide initiative that transforms portions of streets into vibrant public gathering spaces. These plazas are designed to create safer, people-focused places where neighbors can connect, local businesses can benefit from increased foot traffic, and communities can host events, art, markets, and celebrations.
Historic Parkrose is partnering with PBOT, local organizations, and community members to help activate the plaza with programming and events that make this space a welcoming destination for everyone. While PBOT created the plaza through its pilot program, Historic Parkrose is excited to help bring it to life through community gatherings like this one.
Admission is free! Free BBQ from It’s a Vibe Catering, while supplies last. Everyone is welcome. The best part is that community members can book their own event at the plaza HERE! Make sure to check out the Historic Parkrose plaza calendar and updates to see upcoming events.
