The East Portland Action Plan is pleased to announce that 2020 mayoral candidates Sarah Iannarone and Ted Wheeler, along with write-in candidate Teressa Raiford, have accepted our invite to speak to and take questions from EPAP members on Wednesday, October 28, 2020, 6:30 – 8:30 PM.

If you live, work, or play in East Portland, what questions do you have for Sarah, Ted and Teressa? We invite you to submit your questions to us by replying to this email or e-mailing our advocate JR Lilly by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, October 27, 2020, and we will do our best to ask them during the Q&A the following night. Priority will be given to the questions that address strategies identified in the East Portland Action Plan.

Send your questions for Sarah, Ted, and TeressaA note from your EPAP Co-Chairs:
We are asking all community members to come with respect and in line with our EPAP values. As your Co-Chairs and the meeting facilitators, we will enforce our Code of Care to make this a welcoming space for everyone.
We know that Sarah, Ted, and Teressa participate in a lot of meetings and forums related to the upcoming election, and you have seen some of them, so you might have an expectation of how this will play out. However, we are asking you to come with an open mind and with the intent that, at EPAP, we can have a different kind of conversation with these candidates — one that is focused on community (not competition) and the needs of the BIPOC, immigrant, and refugee communities and our low-income families and youth here, and let their needs and our work be what brings us together with the shared vision of making East Portland a place to thrive for all. We are asking for your support in making this vision successful at our meeting!
We will send out an agenda shortly. Please note that the format will be a little different this time in order to make the most out of Sarah, Ted, and Teressa’s participation.
Sincerely,
Sabina Urdes
Mustafah Finney
As a side note: We are aware of the Willamette Week article that’s been published about the candidates attending our event. However, we want to note that that article is about tensions between the campaigns, not about our event. We’ve reached out to the WW about some stuff that we feel was incorrectly represented, and the WW has apologized and will correct. The WW are also likely to write a separate post, this time, about our event, that will hopefully bring positive attention to East Portland. As of right now, our EPAP general membership meeting with Sarah, Ted, and Teressa is moving forward as planned, and all three of them plan to participate.  East Portland Action Plan
Charged with providing leadership and guidance to public agencies on how to strategically address community-identified issues and allocate resources to improve livability for neighborhoods in the East Portland.
